Bronze Member Username: Cb9869Post Number: 29 Registered: Jul-04 | well the 500.1 is severely underrated, where it probably puts out around 750 rms... if we look at JL's spec sheet for recommended conditions -> http://www.jlaudio.com/subwoofers/RP_Chart.html 750 puts it right around the yellow, or optimum. Could it take more, or even a lot more? Probably, but at the time I wasn't willing to shell out money for an 1000.1 |

Silver Member Username: Erik123456Arlington, Tx Post Number: 275 Registered: Aug-04 | is that 750 at like 14.5 volts or 12.5? Glass is probably right, is it just that the JL woofers are much more efficent than subs like the Ti and X.XX? for a "super sub" they sure take a heck of a lot less power than some others |
Gold Member Username: GlasswolfNorthWest, Michigan USA Post Number: 6985 Registered: Dec-03 | the JL slash seres amps have regulated PWM power supplies and output stages. they put out the same power regardless of input voltage or load between rated specs. the 500/1 will put out around 650wRMS or so on a scope. they are pretty badly underrated, and a 12W7 can survive a 1000/1, but the added power doesn't add much for peak output, and it puts the sub into the voided warranty range of power. as for comparing a JL W7 to a triple X or a Ti, you'd need to use the 13W7 due to the reduced cone area from the rolled surround desigh, and the 13W7 takes about the same power as either of the other two subs. around 1Kw for optimal performance. efficiency for any speaker is only about 5%. The sensitivity of the subs emntioned are all around the 89dB range, but if you match the subs to the right amps, that's not really much of a concern as they'll perform at their best regardless of their sensitivity with proper power. |
Bronze Member Username: Cb9869Post Number: 30 Registered: Jul-04 | yeah, i remember when i was deciding on an amp for my w7, i remember glass and john recommended the 500.1... so i took their advice, and I dont regret it at all. Now i'm just needing money for some other projects... (building new pc, case mod's etc) something glass can appreciate ;). Have you done any new case mods recently glass? I haven't visted your site in a long time. |
Silver Member Username: Erik123456Arlington, Tx Post Number: 277 Registered: Aug-04 | what do you think it will sell for like 1000? what are you hoping to get? |
Bronze Member Username: Cb9869Post Number: 31 Registered: Jul-04 | i'd wish for 1000 , probably hoping for 750-850 |
