Breaking in a sub

how do you go about breaking in a 12" sub?

In general, the more powerful the sub, the more time. Think about it, wouldn't you rather play it soft for a week so you don't have to go spend another 300 bucks?

yep this is for my new benchmark 12" sub(benchmark is a local car audio shop that has own line of subs)...700 watt rms. 1500 watts max. 8 ohms.i dunno the price yet...http://www.benchmarkaudio.com/ilnatguardinstall.asp...only pics i could find of them...

how about refurbished subs? do they require the same break in time?

Well ask them them if they're local and they make the subs.

I would assume that one should take the same precautions for a refurb. Same answer as before: wouldn't you rather play it soft for a week so you don't have to go spend another 300 bucks?

how soft is soft? the volume on my HU goes up to 36 i think so would i play it at 5? 10? 15?

my guess is no more than half.......

DO anybody in here deal with CVR subs. I konw they sound good. BUT would 850-900w rms be enough for 3 12's? Is it possible to hit 130's in a sealed box?
