Please help me pick out an amp

Silver Member Username: SolacedagonyNew Jersey US Post Number: 159 Registered: Oct-04 | I'd say go with that MTX amp, but be careful cause those subs probably aren't going to take as much power as that amp will give them. A sealed box will sound much better than that cheap bandpass. Also, make sure you know how to wire those. If you need wiring diagrams, check out www.rockfordfosgate.com. It's also hard to tell from their product description the impedance of the coils on the subs. Can't tell if they're two 8 ohm SVC subs giving it a 4 ohm impedance or the subs themselves are 4 ohm SVC subs. If it doesn't say on the sub, you may need to check it with a multimeter. If you can't do that, see if you can find a model or serial number to type into google. Try to wire it to 2 ohms if possible. If not, 4 ohms will work. The MTX doesn't support 1 ohm, I don't think, not sure about the Audiobahn. If you have any questions, feel free to post. |

Silver Member Username: JmloughreyFarmington, CT Post Number: 625 Registered: Jul-04 | the thing is that whole box is 600rms of power, not each sub. If you use that JBL amp you'll destroy those subs in a matter or minutes (more like seconds). Find an amp that does about 500x1 @ 2 ohms and you should be all set. The JBL 600.1 would probably be a better fit for that system. Yahoo search for your amp at another place, sounddomain.com's prices are a touch high, ebay it and you'll save a whole bunch of money. |
