alpine r's are easily available to me but i just wanted to make sure that i wasnt making the wrong choice

I haven't heard the jbl's, but I myself am running 2 12" Alpines and they sound very nice. Good balance between SQ and SPL, never had any problems. Not saying they are better than the jbl's cuz i dont know, but I know you wont be dissappointed with the R's.
