But I used 16gauge to wire the coils...should that be ok or should I use 12gauge for that too? Also, I need about 1700watts for my amp, and my lights do dim. Would a 2farad capacitor give me enough power or is it just gonna solve the dimming lights? I have an optima group 51 yellow top. |

After your battery gets discharged, it won't help. As for your speaker wires, 12gauge is fine. If you're worried about the wire on the coil, put 12gauge but it shouldn't make any difference. The speakers/subs are not high current/voltage devices. For 1700W amp, you'll need at least 150A alternator. |

At low volume, the capacitor will provide the current the amp needs but as you increase the setting, it won't be able to meet amp's demand. |
