Type 1 During the code request mode, while holding the DISP key depressed, press and hold the Volume UP or DOWN key for 3 seconds (so that "..." disappears). Then using your remote enter your code. Type 2 Press the "Auto" button and "Track up" on face of radio at the same time. The four dash lines ( . . . . ) should "disappear". Then using your remote enter your code. Type 3 Model# DPX-4020 and DPX-4030 Press and hold the 1 then the 6 preset key (preset keys are the buttons on face of radio for storing you "favorite" radio stations). "C" should display. Then using your remote, enter your code. Enter your number from the remote control unit. Your code number is 5227 (KCAR) * Press numeric key "5" ( 2 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key * Press numeric key "2" ( 3 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key * Press numeric key "2" ( 1 time ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key * Press numeric key "7" ( 2 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key The security is canceled and the set enters the TUNER mode! |

man with plan Unregistered guest | Ok you guys I just had a problem with a kvt715 being locked and I paid a site 40 dollars for this info,It does work the code is KCAR BUT its how you use the code whether it works or not the first thing you have to do is have a remote-Will not work without remote,....Turn on unit and the screen will come up for password..using remote press 5 two times,wait 2 seconds and press enter,NOT track up press 2 three times wait 2 seconds press enter,press 2 One time wait 2 seconds then enter and finally press 7 two times and press enter! your screen will be unlocked if you did it right,If you have to try again turn off and then back on.AGAIN the site I paid for this at says push track up but that did not work for me,Goodluck THIS WILLNOT WORK ON 911 unit. |

The name brand on the lcd is autovision. The pin has 5 wires. Black Red Green Blue Gray (clear) I tried to hook up the red to power and black to ground and green to a RCA jack plug, but I get nothing on the lcd screens. Help. Problem is i can't even figure out how to enter the code. The face plate just says "Code Off" then proceeds to operate, of course without the functions of the faceplate buttons. How do I get to a point where it will ask me for the code? I tried each of the three methods mentioned in a previous post but they all seem to imply that the faceplate is already asking for the code, which mine is not. I had it professionaly installed and everything, I had to play with everything on it. I got to the security code part, and of course activated it. I never dreamed I would have to use it again, so like a idiot I didn't write it down. Well I recentley done some mods on my truck and had the battery out. Wouldn't ya know, I DON'T HAVE THE CODE. Rudy Clavel Unregistered guest | please help - I bought my Mitsubishi Challenger car (also called montero in the states) 3 years ago and it has a kenwood KDC 5016 installed. i changed my battery today but when i try to listen to my car stereo, it was asking me to enter a code. After reading the manual,i tried some combinations but after the 3rd time, i had to wait for 24 hours for me to be able to enter another set of codes. found the service document and rang the previous owner but he doesn't have any idea and was quite rude too. I know this is a long shot but is there a default code that i could try in case the previous owner used that code? i also noticed a clearing of the code option on some of the models. I could try them but if someone could help. it would be much appreciated. I tried to convinced wifey to upgrade but all i got was a stiff NO answer.. please help .. thank you |

Helper1 Unregistered guest | I have a 6090R. These type of Kenwood head units have no "backdoor" code or workaround. There is a 24C01 EEPROM (128 byte) in the player that needs to be read. Connection can be made with specialist kit. I use these EEPROMs at work and have interfaced to them on many occasions (SPI device). I'm afraid you need to go to a specialist to get it decoded. Hope this clears things up for some of the people posting here. |

helper1 Unregistered guest | I have found a method that does not need a dump of the EEPROM. You have to be able to strip the CD/tape block out of the unit and power it up (preferably on a bench). Not a bad deal, I guess.. It came out of his 2005 350Z, so it was a good set up for me. Here is my dilemma, I just had it installed at my local stereo shop last night to find out when I turn the DVD player on it asks me for an unlock code. I have owned Kenwood HU's before and totally forgot I would need an unlock code for this unit. I called the person who sold it to me and he told me he didn't get that code prompt when he put it in his Z (which is BS since this happens every time you disconnect it from power). So he says he will try and call the stereo shop he got it installed at, Kenwood, and even Circuit City where he originally purchased it 3-5 years ago, whenever this unit first came out. I am yet to hear back from him today, but after being so pissed off last night searching vigorously through the internet for some sort of resolution, I've come up with SOME help (KCAR method, other reset methods), but still no go. <IMG SRC="https://www.ecoustics.com/bbs/clipart/sad.gif" ALT=":-(" BORDER=0> My question to you guys: Does anyone own a similar head unit, or know of anyway to bypass this from experience? I understand anyone who reads this can assume that I stole this unit and am trying to find an easy way to get into it. Well, assume that. That's definitely not the case. I'm really just looking for some help/advise here, please no smart comments, you must take this situation in perspective first. It was working fine on my way to work but on my way home I turn the system on and oddly enough it asked for the code. Somehow it reset by itself and after I got the system up and running again I see the song timer running but no sound. No matter what I play - AM/FM, CD Changer, MP3... nothing. I checked the audio settings, unplugged the receive, and even disconected the battery to reset again but no luck. Please help. |

I never input any anti theft code so it is not asking me for a unlock code at all, the problem is that all the buttons, but the one to take the monitor in and out, are not working, the remote isnt working neither.The only button that works is working just once each time i turn the radio on. Also if i input a CD it will play it, but i cant turn the volume up or downor anything because the buttons at the touchscreen are not working. I know it get lock but i cant unlock it becuase i never setup an anti theft code, but there should be some butons i should press at a time or some secuence to unlock it, anyone know how to fix it? |

New member Username: Sp1086Gold Coast, QLD Australia Post Number: 3 Registered: Mar-06 | You need the original new purchase reciept (eBay reciept won't do) and the serial number of the unit. Give Kenwood a call and they should be able to help you. You may have to put it into them so they can reset it. As far as I know there is no default code on the newer units. I eventually got the code for mine from the guy I bought it from on eBay with alot of hassel mind you. |
