Currently I have 8 guage wire running from hood into a distribution block and 8 guage going to each amp. I want to upgrade my wiring to 4 guage and install a cap. (Yes, I know a capacitor won't make up for lack of amperage from my alternator, but I'd like to have it as sort of a voltage regulator). How do I know how much current my alternator is capable of putting out? I know that my amps can probably put out about 900W (the JL Audio amp put out 720W in an actual lab test) continuos max, but there's no way I could listen to it that loud anyway. Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
