I found the Polk GNX 10" sub at a local Frye Electronics for $29. It was to inexpensive to pass up and I was just looking for a little low end to give Geezer Butler his due. I put the Polk in a sealed box and currently am running it off my US Acoutics 4 X 65 amp (the front speakers (CDT-6x) are getting the rest and I am powering my rear speakers off the head unit. The sub's getting about 165 rms based on the amp specs. The sub is rated at about 175-200 rms. A little underpowered, but the sound isn't half bad. I want to get an amp strictly for the sub. I was looking into two channel amps to give me some flexiblity in the future. Currently I am operating on a budget. The 3 amps I am looking at are: -MA Audio HK297 - $99 from thezeb.com -US Acoustics USC2080 - $105 on Cardomain -Ultimate Titanium TA2300-II $89 on Cardomain
The Ma Audio has more power, I love my current US Acoustics, and the price for the Ultimate here on Cardomain seems really good. If I enventually upgrade my front speakers to components, I could the two channel to power them and put my sub back on the US Acoustics. Any advice, suggestions, positive or negative comments would be appreciated.
