I just got done making my vented box for my brahma 15", i was just wondering if i should line the inside of the box with left over fatmat (sound deadner)? think it wil make it sound better? or more spl? is there any advantage or dissadvantage?
really it won't do any good. waste of product there. just be sure teh box is strong, and cross-braced if needed. polyfill will give the impression of a slightly larger box if you want that.. use about a pount per cubic foot of box space.
fatmat's purpose is to absorb metal vibration and reduce resonance and lower the sympathetic frequency of the sheet metal in the car. not much point of that with MDF. If you want to seal the box use clear silicone caulking, and let it dry overnight before installing the subs, as drying silicone lets off fumes that are harmful to the speakers.
what Fishy said. wal-mart. pillow stuffing. you can buy it in bags for about $3, but for a vented box I'd suggest using it in rolls, and staple gunning it into the box (line the box with it) to prevent blowing it out the ports.
