Suddenly none of the remote controls (DVR, TV, DVD player) work from my couch. If I stand up close to them and point the remote directly at them, they work better, but still not like they should be. I've replaced all the batteries, I've unplugged and re-plugged everything, and no change. These are 3 completely different remotes that all stopped working at the same exact time, so I have to believe there's some kind of infrared interference in my living room? I spoke to the Fios tech guy who told me florescent lights could interfere, but I have none in my apartment (after that he was completely stumped). I've changed nothing about the set up of my tv or my living room. One minute the remotes were all working fine, the next they weren't.
Any ideas of what could be causing this? I've tried googling and have come up with nothing.
Did you ever figure this out? Gear dirty/dusty? (covering the IR ports?) Gear sits at some point in the sun? Remotes sat in the sun? I can't imagine how a power surge / brownout could cause this.
Turns out there was something sitting on top of my old VCR remote pressing the buttons down, which was conflicting with the signals from my other remotes.
