I just bought the new Samsung BD-1500. I planned to display the picture with my Toshiba projector. The player has these video outputs: - HDMI - Component Video - Composite Video The projector has these inputs: - VGA - S-Video - Composite Video You see the problem. The only common system is Composite Video, which is the worst available and far less efficient than both systems are capable of. I expected the receiver would have s-video output, which I already have all the cabling for, but no such luck.
In theory this could be handled by several different adapters. For example, an HDMI to S-Video adapter would work, but there seems to be no such thing. A component video to s-video adapter would work, and I have ordered a poorly described (but inexpensive) device that may or may not do this. Of course a simple RCA cable would work, but probably not give a very good picture.
Does anybody have information of an adapter or converter that will reliably make a good quality video conversion in this situation? Thanks.
