I am currently looking for something to hook my TV up to a stereo system with. My TV only has analog outputs, the standard red/white analog RCA plugs. My stereo system has both digital coaxial and optical connectors, and am wondering a few things. I am probably upgrading to digital cable soon, and will therefore just be able to use a digital connector on the cable box, however am still looking for a temporary solution.

1 - What kind of converter will I need (or does one exist)?
2 - Where can I find one?
3 - What price range am I looking at?

Thanks for your help.

If your TV only has analog L/R outputs you are stuck with those. Connect it to your receiver's analog inputs and let the receiver do the converting for your. However, be advised that it is only matrixed surround.

If your cable/satellite provider is broadcasting in digital sound then you use the digital outputs of your cable/satellite box into your receiver's digital inputs.
