Ok my friend bought the Logitech 5300 5.1 system. The output is the 3 3.5 mm plugs (green, orange, black). My question is this... is there a reciever that he can buy that he can connect this to, to get 5.1 sound? He doesn't have a computer that has a 5.1 card. He was hoping he could just buy a reciever that the 5300s plug into to process the 5.1. Thanks for any info guys.
The Creative DDTS-100 can decode 5.1 and will hook up to his speakers. This is however assuming his soundcard has a digital out, and since it doesn't have 5.1 I doubt it. The problem is that the PC still needs to process or provide the speakers with 5.1 to start with. The best option would be for him to get a 5.1 soundcard such as the Audigy2ZS.
Then again most motherboards these days have 5.1 onboard so it might be more cost effective for him to upgrade his computer..
