i was trying to decide on whether or not to use a medium end s-video vs. high end video for hooking up my digital cable box to tv. i was for sure, from everything i have read and heard that the s-video was the way to go, but then i read that the s-video connection bypasses the tv's digital comb filter (link below)! is this true? then why would i need a tv with a digital comb filter which costs more? which one should i use? someone please help or clear this up for me. thanks.

Think of it this way:

The composite (rca yellow connector) needs the comb filter to separate the basic components of the video signal so the following circuits can do their job in creating an image.

The SVHS or SVIDEO circuit already has the signal separated therfore bypassing the comb filter.

Buy the tv with it if you plan to hook up any standard devices (ie vcr)

Good luck!
