Update: The TV featured in this deal appears to be out of stock for good. But TCL’s newest 98-inch model, the 98S550G is on Amazon now for the same price: $3,999.99. Check it out here:

And now back to your regularly scheduled deal alert:

If TCL made anything clear when they announced their 2023 TV line-up this year, the company plans to dominate the extra large TV category this year. With no less than a dozen different TVs sized 75 inches or higher, technology and picture quality that rivals the best on the market and prices that seem almost too good to be true, the company is on a path to the top, as far as market share is concerned.

Earlier this year, just before the new model line announcement, Amazon dropped the price of TCL’s highly rated 98-inch 98R754 QLED TV down to $4,001.23 but the price was too good – the online retailer sold out its existing stock within 2 days. But since good things come to those who wait, Amazon just repeated this trick. But now the massive 4K TV is even less expensive: $3,999.99 as of August 24, 2023. This includes free delivery. And if you pay using an Amazon store card, you get an additional $200 cash back as a statement credit after purchase.

So what do you get for your four grand? A huge 98-inch diagonal TV – that’s roughly four times the size of a 50-inch set – with full 4K Ultra HD native resolution, QLED Quantum Dot color, precision local dimming, Dolby Vision and HDR10+ HDR. It also supports Dolby Atmos immersive surround and has all the streaming services you can eat, thanks to it being built on the Google TV platform. Netflix, HBO, YouTube TV, Amazon Prime Video… the gang is all here.

I met with TCL reps earlier this year about their upcoming models and a company executive told me they had sold over 50,000 98-inch TVs in last year, in China alone. But now TCL wants in on the lucrative North American big screen TV market, and apparently this means huge, high tech displays at incredibly low prices. The 98R754 was first introduced in 2022 but has been carried over as a current model for 2023 as well.

TCL’s 98R754 offers 4 HDMI inputs including an eARC port for connection to a Dolby Atmos-capable soundbar or receiver.

The list price of this set when introduced last year was $8,499. Earlier this year, this TV was selling for $5,999. Today it’s 32% off at $3,999.99. It seems like a typo. A mistake. But it’s not. It’s real. Not sure for how long, but as of August 24, 2023, Amazon has them in stock and ready to ship.
