SVS offers a 45-day risk-free in-home trial, and often takes back returns for other reasons and these products are often re-sold in the SVS Outlet Store in like-new condition at a discount.
Before being listed in the Outlet Store, there is a six-step quality assurance process.
- Package Inspection: SVS makes sure that all needed accessories and documentation are inside (manual and/or quick start guide, instruction manual, power cord, port plugs, grille, and all packaging). Missing items are replaced.
- Acoustic Testing: For speakers and subwoofers, a full frequency sweep is performed, measuring the response with a specially designed microphone. Polarity, connections, and controls are also checked.
- Cabinet Airtight and Rigidity Test: Every speaker and subwoofer is run at reference volume and tested for air leaks and buzz from loose internal components or cabinet construction defects.
- Cosmetic Evaluation: Speakers and subwoofers are checked for burn marks, scratches, dents, blemishes, or imperfections on the cabinet.
- Component Evaluation: A physical overview of subwoofer parts to ensure it is still in like-new condition. This includes logo alignment, blemishes, surround flaws, stripped screws, and flawless stitching. The serial number is checked to make sure it matches the serial numbers on the carton.
- Polish and Buff: For black oak and black ash finishes, the speakers or subwoofers get a final microfiber cloth wipe down to remove dust, smudges, or fingerprints, before being placed back in the protective sleeves and packaging. Piano gloss finish products receive extra polishing and buffing by hand.
