Beyerdynamic Free Byrd Wireless Earbuds: $145 (B Stock)
There is a catch – these are “B Stock” which means they may have been a customer return or used at a trade show. But before you get skeeved out by “used” earbuds, know that the company does a thorough cleaning and tests the performance of each pair. They also replace any removable parts that may come in contact with the skin with brand new parts before shipping. Also, all B Stock ‘phones come with a 2-year warranty and 30-day return option.
Our own Lynn Miller reviewed the Free Byrds and found a lot to like (particularly the sound quality). His only gripes were that the ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) feature could be slightly better and the built-in touch controls could be a bit more intuitive. But even so, the ‘phones compete well with models from Apple, Sony and Bose. And now at half the price, buying a pair is practically a no-brainer.
The Beyerdynamic Free Byrd features Bluetooth 5.2 (with AptX support), Active Noise Cancellation with transparency mode, IPX4 splash proof rating and up to 11 hours of battery life with ANC off or 8 hours with ANC on. A 10-minute “Quick Charge” gets you 70 minutes of playback time at normal volume.
Beyerdynamic’s outlet sale ends on February 28th, but the sale is limited to stock on hand, and we don’t expect these ones to last at this price.
