Silver Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 508 Registered: Jun-04 | for those who are intrested....... you would have markings indicating your air space amounts as you moved forward or backward ok here it is first youll have to measure your cars useable trunk demensions or where ever your putting the box. what were aiming for is an adjustable airspace and adjustable port and adjustable sealed box. I think I talked with you about this before but ill cover the rest in case. My original goal was to do three different adjustable boxes say 0 to 1.5 cf then 1.5 cf to 3.0 cf then 3.0 cf to 6.0 cf. I would build them with an inner .75 inch wall then an outter .75 inch wall, a box in a box but the outside would slide out creating more air space as moved out then less as moved in. then the ports would be placed on the box with either slot ports that are adjustable tuned or say 4 inch pvc with different lengths which would create different tuned amounts according to airspace used. Then to go sealed you can create a sealed plate to screw into the box to cover the port. To expand usabilty you could make face plates for the box to fit each of the three boxes one with 8 inch woofer cut out one with 10 inch etc as far as you wanted to go and just switch the plates according to woofer size. The advantage gained with these boxes would be you could tune the sub in your car using test tone cds like my food for woofers cd and then you could eith go by ear and test or you could do what i did and use a spl meter and test at eith low medium or high volumes and chart out the spl for each frequency on paper. Then you could learn what box would be best for your car. Maybe even someone elses if the test boxes fit in other cars. The only other variable would be placement in the vehicles. (some positions may produce louder results than others) Oh and by the way once you did the testing you could do two diferent port arangements (one for daily driving and one for flat out one note wonder for the spl lanes) |
