Menu User Preference Reinstall Type Password Should read all data erasing - Question "Are you Sure? - Hit ok Will erase Old Software Please Re-start the back of receiver for 10secs
Once Back On Hit Following Keys...
Menu Vol + to TV Channel Hit ok Menu Chan -- to delete Vol + to all Channels Hit ok Will exit menu Hit ok on any number and X will appear over numbers Hit exit Chan + to OK Hit ok Exit unit saves data.
For Channel Download follow these instructions once dish is in right position.
Hit Following Keys...
Menu Installation Transponder Setup Hit ok Vol + to correct dish Choose sat scan Hit ok to download channels Wait until reads COMPLETE, not 100% Hit ok Exit until saves data and watch TV

We are trying to start up our system, but we can't follow the steps, because the "user preference" step does not appear after menu. Can user preference be substituted for something else?
Have a Pansat 2500a Haveing problems: I move the dish 500 and signal metter does not do anything tried to hook up signail meter it does not get any power like the Pansat is turned off or something, put meter on the dish with RCA receiver and it gets power and shows signal Can not get into perntial controls unless i want to clear out flash and start with factory setings Please e-mail me because this is driveing me nuts!!!! I have had this putter for 2 weeks with no answers!!!
Are the Blackbird and or Silverbirds still working? A few of my friends went down. Is it worth buying a pansat or fortec for a little less?

I just received my Black bird. I can't stop the on sceen menu from rolling to start my reinstall process. Also the remote control is different from the one in the manual

Iona, the password i used was dsscanada.ca and it worked for me. make sure you have a null and modem cable and the pff4.01 fix.

I was thinking about buying a blackbird but have heard that people are having trouble lately. I thought these boxes were not susposed to go down. Are they worth buying?
JA - I thought the same thing. I had my for only one day before some type of glitch happend. Now my seller is selling then much cheaper with free shipping. Make sure u do your homework before buying. All I got is a headace and loss of $$$$.

My contact is offering the boxes at a lower price too. What a coincidence! So you are saying your box is not working at all now?
Can I ask you what kind of dish you had and did you install the system yourself? I have an old Direct TV dish but I'm told I need two dishes or a double dish to receive all the dishnet channels.
Does anyone know where I can find the fix for the blackbird receiver pizza 5.01? Who has information on the ST-1000 chip, if you have info should I return box to dealer for replacement chip.
does anyone known if i can get the local channels under the 100's , i live in montreal and my sub is from atlanta, thanks

JA- I have an old sony dish. U can try this website for a fix. It's dsschannel.com. User name : dsschannel Password ebay. Good luck! My friends is working I have not tried it yet.
