Hi Slade,

I still stand behind my recommendation for the Rotel 1056 and the Paradigm Set up, buy it piece by piece if need be, or if you skimp out now you will regret later.

Enjoy (formely Anonymous100)

I'd have thought that in the bedroom you'd want something discreet, meaning a sub/sat system and minimal electronics. The best one box solution I know of is the Jamo DV-R50. This is a CD player sized box which does it all - DVD/tuner/amp all built in. Add one of their speaker sets and you're away. You could choose to wallmount or buy stands. The top of the range would cost you less than your $2k including the main box of tricks. This includes an active subwoofer which can also be wallmounted if you like.

I've used the Jamo a lot, it's great fun, uses cool-running efficient digital amps, has a great sound, does progressive scan through its component output - what more could you want?

Regards,
Frank.

I would also recomend the rotel 1056 or the arcam receiver. While your at it throw in the Rotel RDV 1050 dvd player. It is being highly praised.

The Rotel receiver is an excellent machine although I'd have though it would have swallowed your whole budget. Obviously Rotels are cheaper in Canada than they are here in the UK (true for most hifi incidentally). The DVD players are meant to be really good too, although I haven't played much with either of them.

As well as the Paradigms have a listen to Totem. Also Canadian, lock-mitred cabinets, and very capable indeed in terms of sound quality!

Regards,
Frank.
