I'm looking to buy a new A/V reciever. I want the receiver to be able to support HDTV. This means that I want component video switching and upconversion from S-video and composite. I also want the receiver to perform well from a stereo perspective.
Just how important is upconversion. I don't see this spec on any of the higher end receievers(NAD, Rotel) only on the Japanese makes (Yamaha, Denon).
Does anyone know if NAD and Rotel support this on their receivers and pre-pros? What am I going to miss out on if I select a receiver without this feature.
