While I find movies sound fabulous with the reciever, cd audio seems a bit thin. What kind of speakers would be best to match with my yamaha reciever that might sound a little fuller for cd audio. |

Speaker upgrade might not do the trick - you might have to get a dedicated stereo amp to satisfy your ever developing ear in it's persuit of sonic heaven. Affordable too - only $300 shipped. It's a surround receiver, so you can bi-amp your speakers (if your speaker allows this) - separate wires to your woofer and tweeter for better sound. New member Username: EdisonPost Number: 69 Registered: 12-2003 | Axioms are good speaker value since they sell direct cutting out the middle man. Clear sounding and look good too. Psb are good too. But I would recommend getting a dedicated stereo amp - sounds like you are ready for it. There is integrated amp section here on ecoustics discussion if you decide to go this path. Seperate pre and power amp gives you even more quality for more money if an integrated does'nt do it for you. |

New member Username: Packer_edgePost Number: 10 Registered: 12-2003 | Thanks a lot for the info! Some interesting links there to be looked at. Maybe I'll have to go the dedicated amp route. My old amp, which I still have (an older pioneer) I was very happy with in terms of cd audio. It's not a digital reciever so I was stuck with dolby surround but in terms of music I was extremely happy. The only reason I haven't been using it is convenience, since my new reciever has binding posts and my old one just had the clips (not sure what the technical term is) where you just shove the wire into. It was just a real pain to dig in behind my entertainment unit and always be switching the wire. I went to a store in town to get some help in terms of finding some sort of connector to make the switch easier, but no one had any really good ideas. Maybe I'll go back out and see if I can find something. If I could make that switch a little easier I'd be content with the sound. Any ideas on that one?? |

You just need any switch - attach speaker cables to side 1 and 2 of the switch.
