Hello, I'm looking for a new receiver that is a good value. I'm upgrading an old HK and have Bose Acoustimass speakers with sub.

I've looked into Denon, HK, Marantz and wanted to know if anyone has good ideas on a good receiver that is a great value - maybe last years model, or a great price, etc. Budget $500 or less, would prefer 7.1 but not a necessity. Thanks

Other ideas on what would be good with the bose speakers (I think yamaha makes them too bright).

Panasonic sa-xr45 ($300 shipped)

If you had not bought Bose yet, there are others better. Post it in speakers if you want suggestions.

Read what audiophiles are saying about panny:

Smoother and cleaner than hk - looks sleek too.

Sorry - you already have Bose - its ok. Panny would give nice sound.

HK is pretty good - has warm sound due to wide current. Panasonic would sound smoother and cleaner, but HK is not bad at all.

You might want to go used at www.audiogon.com
and look for outlaw receiver.

Don't expect to be blown away by the sifference though - you have to upgrade your speakers for that. HK is not bad.

sorry i have to comepletely disagree with jameslee

that is one of the new digital recievers that have
been coming out lately and frankly the amplifier
section does not live up it's an old technology
trying to be revived it didn't work then and it
doesn't work now.

way to much distortion and they have to do to much
to them to get them to play flat.

it's a cheap lightweight (9 lbs.)amplifier.

stick with a nad,hk,marantz, pioneer elite or some
other higher grade reciever.
