Alphasonik is just a subsidiary of Audiobahn, and not that great. The Eclipse amplifier that matches perfectly to these subs is the DA7122, which is a fantastic amplifier and will push those subs very well. You can probably find one on ebay around $500 or a little over. |
Itend2thump Unregistered guest | Whats some good web sites with the best prices for the Eclipse amp, JBL 1200, and the hiffonics. Also what is the diff. between the 2ohm mono amp and the 4 ohm? |
Gold Member Username: Jonathan_fGA USA Post Number: 1270 Registered: May-04 | Your subs are 4 ohms each, I don't know if you know Ohms law or not, but when you connect two resistive devices in parallel (in this case two 4 ohm subs) this creates a 2 ohm load because the current has more paths to flow (the same as if you used a Y-fitting on a water hose, the water will have more places to go, less resistance). This means that with a mono subwoofer amplifier, you'll need an amp that supplies the necessary power on a 2 ohm load, in this case 1000W @ 2 ohms. The amp's aren't 2 or 4 ohms, they're made to produce power, and the load put on them is what determines how much power the amp puts out, a 2 ohm load has less resistance, generating higher power from the amp. http://www.sounddomain.com has decent prices on Hifonics and JBl, and if you find them cheaper on another site, sounddomain will do a price match. http://www.woofersetc.com has the Eclipse and JL Audio amps, but they're more expensive, both are fantastic amplifiers, though, and will push those subs very well. |
