I'm lost in a very loud world. :)

So many speaker brands out there. Just starting out its kind of hard to find your way through all of the reviews and bashings. Ha. I've spent at least 6 hours trying to research for a good powered sub for under $300. I'll find a good one and then a review will come and say it's horrible.

So I came here. I hope you can give me some good recommendations for a nice home-audio sub for under $300.00 (and no higher!) :)

save your pennies for another rainy day... wait til you can afford a nice one... 450 will get you a HSU

Any other recommendations, please? I was looking at the old Sony SAWM40 but it is impossible to find nowadays.

I'm sure y'all know of some cheaper ones. Stop being elitist. :p

if you like the sony, try the SAWM200 for 99.99 @ CC or the SAWX700 for 299.99
However, they also sell the Polk PSW202 for 199. which I think sounds better than the Sony.
There is also the Infinity PS8BK which is the better sub for 249.99

Buy a used hsu on www.audiogon.com or ebay.

The kits are not too hard to make - and offer better quality.

I have a phase technology Power 8 and it works fine. I am no speaker or sub expert. Hawk has recommended this sub on previous posts. I think it is in the price range. I actually don't like too much bass and have it set up on the real low range. Just my 2 cents.

just save your money for a better sub. One nice thing about HT is you don't have to get everything right away. You can build out as your needs and budget grow.
