Im getting a pair of mid-bass speakers for my rear deck. I have people in my car a lot, so I want them to have some sound. BUT, I also want it to sound good for me (could even fade them out when no one is in the back). Should I get a good pair of them that take a lot a fair amount of power like some Image Dynamic CX's, or, since they are rear deck, and won't be played loudly anyway, should I look for something that takes only like 30-50 watts, like some Infinity Kappas or Focal 130CA's (are either of those good mid-bass drivers even?)
Of course, it might be a little bit harder to find a good small amp to bridge and to feed such little power (to run them in mono).
all 5.25 inchers btw (so I don't have to make a difference panel)
I'd just do a set of midbasses like the Image Dynamics, or Morel, Focal makes midbasses, also Adire Koda mids. They'll sound great if you use a bandpass crossover (around 150 hz-3k) and yes, I'd give them a small amplifier. If you already don't have an amp for components, just get a four channel, wire the midbasses in series and bridge the rear channel for a mono 8 ohm load. If your rear channel of the 4 channel has a HPF, set it to around 150 hz.
