The ZX4000 is a respectable amp with good power.

The Perfects are a notch above the Classics, which are more like the straight Kappa line.

Regarding the rears, get speakers that match the front set in characteristics (if you insist on having rears at all). Preferably, get components instead of co/triaxials, they'll sound much better.

listen to different headunits and see what features you like best, personally i like pioneer when it come to headunits..depending on how much your willing to spend look into the premier line as well. alpine has allways been one of the best i personally am not a fan..ive had too many friends complain about them breaking on them and getting disks stuck in them.

hey matt or whomever, sorry to bump in on annother persons thread, but i was also comparing cdt's to infinity perfects and i was wondering what would be better for rock music and the like. i know the infinity componets are brighter and i was looking for something with nice midrange fill to enhance the type of music. Ive been told CDT's are a good line for this but ive never been able to listen to them but ive heard people talk so much about the perfects and the CDT's. ive also heard alot of not wanting to fill in the rear for better staging but alot of the premium members buy a coax to fill the rear? eg. cdt cl-62 with a cl-6x fill....what are the benefits/dissadvantages of this if everyones been so adiment about not getting rear speakers?

You'll usually see "rear fill" in a sedan set up for four people. It's simplest to use smaller coaxials in the rear, which will provide an adequate listening experience for those passengers without significantly detracting from the forward soundstage: Component sets tend to have louder tweeters, which would inevitably pull the soundstage back from the front passenger area.

The only exceptions I've seen are with bistage (one for each row) or "megastaging" (fill speakers all the way from back to front, getting brighter as they go). Each of these was in SUVs and over $5k total setups.

CDT provides an interesting offering that lay somewhere between mainstream brands and enthusiast brands. For the same money, I'd take Clifs or Elemental Designs, but that's entirely subjective and up to an audition to decide for you.

We bring up the Kappa Perfects so often for two prime reasons:
1. Readily available for auditions at dealers
2. Excellent quality for the money

CDT, Clif and Elemental are good deals, too, but odds are against you finding a dealer locally.

Personally, I think the Alpines have the best set of features for the money. WMA-compatible, a decent track record, and an unlimited number of dealers to get one from (and return one to, should you have any problems). I've owned Pioneer, Kenwood, and Alpine decks, but have preferred the Alpines for about 5 years now.
