For listening to stereo music, is it better to run optical/coaxial into the amplifier, or just composite red/white? I would be using a dvd player to play music.
The reason I ask is I am considering buying an integrated amplifier that only has the red/white inputs, no digital.
An Integrated amp is the way to go for better stereo sound, compare to most surround receivers.
Just red and white is ok if you have 1) good quality DVD player or 2) are willing get a separate DAC unit or a dedicated CD player if your DVD sound is not satisfactory.
What gears do you have, and which ones are you getting? If you are more specific, the advices can be also.
Depends on which component you are looking at. Can you be name the components, and hopefully someone will know if it sounds better through RCA (red/white) vs optical/coaxial for the gears you mentioned.
If your DVD has a nice one, RCA on an integrated is fine. If not, you might want to get a separate DAC unit, or a dedicated CD player for better music.
