My next receiver will be one of these two new beasts.
I currently have a Pioneer Elite VSX-47TX. It's a great receiver, but I always have to have the latest.
Which one would you choose?

What speakers do you have? If you like the sound of the 47 why change to Yamaha which has much different sonic characteristics. Does the Yamaha have the firewire connections that the Elite does? If you don't need the firewire now I wouldn't even consider changing from the 47. As you say it's a great receiver.
