I have a 15 year old Pioneer receiver. Everything works great except the radio. When I turn it on, it plays for about 30 seconds and then stops. If I turn it off for a couple of minutes, it will work again for another 30 seconds and then stop. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?
Al: just for fun, check all your cable wiring. I would re-wire remove all speakers from the back of the receiver. I would then double check the wiring at the speaker end to make sure no wires are touching... not even a single strand.
Then go back to the receiver and connect one speaker at a time (turning off your receiver between checks). See if the receiver will stay out with just the one speaker (at first). Continue adding speakers until all are back connected, or it starts cutting off -- whichever comes first.
Sometimes, this problem is simply a touching wire (short) in your system. If this isn't the case, then your receiver may be having internal problems.
