Bronze Member Username: SpankyPost Number: 47 Registered: Jul-04 | im looking into getting 2 12inch R3's the 240 dollar ones.. i was wondering if anyone knew a web site that would sell them for cheaper...i also have a question about powering them...the rms is 1000 and a 2000 watt peak.. if i only run 550 watts into each sub will that be bad for it? and will it still slam really hard? |

New member Username: SixstarPost Number: 7 Registered: Aug-04 | Well, considering that $240 is already less than half of the regular retail price, you aren't going to find it for much eacher, unless you steal it. And since they ARE $500 speakers, they are pretty decent, and take a lot of power. If you can't afford to buy a good solid amp for them, then don't get the subs! Though I think they should be able to still sound good with a bit less than the RMS, say, 750 watts, 550 is like 45% less that what they can take, and they won't be sounding very good. It won't wreck them though. I suggest you look for subs that don't require that much power. |
