Gemini | Anybody could give me his opinion comparing the Paradigm PS1000 and the new TSF-2 from hsu-research? I currently got the Paradigm PS1000 from a local store for $500, and I really loved it in their showroom, and I loved it more when I hooked it up to my system in my room. I listen to music and movies, but some music (maybe a couple of tracks only) 'maybe'lacking with this paradigm (I said 'maybe' since I do not know how the tracks should sound at bass in the first place), or maybe I am just a little bit paranoid and do not wanna spend $500 for something less than perfect. The sub is not boomy at all, very deep and clean bass. Really loved it. Should I return this paradigm and get TSF-2? Is it that big difference? or maybe something very un-noticable.. The spec on the paradigm is: down to 22Hz(3dB) with <0.9% distortion!!. 200Watts-RMS 700Watts-peak... Thanks in advance... |
Anonymous | I have not heard a TSF-2, but I also have a paradigm ps-1000, and I'am very pleased with this subwoofer. And I can say from experience that for the money, you are probabley not going to find a better sub. Also the lack of bass on some songs is probabley not the sub so much as the source, or actual recording. I listen to classic rock, and some songs boom, while others there is just a hint of bass, it's all in the recording. I'am sure if you would listen to a rap cd or something like that you would see just how good of a sub it is. |

BTW, Hsu offers several models: they have a STF-2 and a VTF-2 below your $500 range. http://hsuresearch.com/products/ know-it-alls found at --> http://www.hsuresearch.com/forum/ |

Just for the record, I own a new Paradigm PW-2200 V.2 and I must say, Paradigm makes some great subwoofers. If anything, talk to your dealer and see if you can bring your PS1000 back for a full trade-up when you're ready to do so. Paradigm has some great subs (the PW-2200 is one of them), and they also have three brand new models hitting the show room floors as I type this... The Seismic 10", Seismic 12" and the Servo 2500. I saw the Seismic 12" today and it is a very nice looking and heavy little beast (didn't get a chance to listen though). All 3 are part of Paradigms Reference line. Here's a link for more info, if interested: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htforum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=158921&highli ght=PW2200 This may be a good option for you, because you can stick with your PS1000 for now, hold onto the convenience of your local dealer and WHEN you get the upgrade bug - trade in your PS1000 for a bigger, badder subwoofer. Hope that helps! Michael |
