I'm running a dual 4 ohm type r 12" sub on an alpine mrp m500 amp. I have a second type r just sitting at the house because, my amp cant fully push both of them. is getting a second alpine 500W amp, just as much strain on my electrical system as having one 1000W amp?

Also what are some good amps to push these dual 4 subs?

This can handle 2 type Rs and is very efficient:

Or a second mrp m500 but these are not as efficient.

If your alternator is rated 90A or more you can run either configuration without mods IF your electrical system is in good shape.

You'd be better off (if only barely) with a 1 ohm stable 1200W mono amp like the AQ1200d mentioned above.
simpler to wire up, and very slightly less current drain simply because it'll be one power supply instead of two, so your efficiency should increase slightly.
