Anonymous | I was just wondering, I can't find an Eclipse dealer anywhere close or find reviews and want to hear the Eclipse component sets. Are they worth comparing to Dynaudio, Focal, and other high end sets? Just wanted to know before I take a long trip. Also, what characteristics do they have? I was looking at the 8701 (3 ways, one 6.5" woofer, one 6.5" mid, and silk tweeter) or the 6.5" 2-way component system. |

The double 6.5" is fairly unique, AFAIK. By reputation alone, I would compare them to Focal K3P and DynAudio 340. But, as always, demo them before making a purchase -- everyone hears differently. The last set on eBay went for $400. -Matt |

They have a similar sound to Dynaudio, warm and soft, but still very accurate. The 6.5" 2 way components are great, and the dual 6.5" 3 way system is great as well, and will allow a unique install. Look at the GTI on www.jlaudio.com, then look at the door location where they mounted the components, they mounted dual XR 6.5" mids and a single tweeter just above it, that works nice and looks the part as well, you could do something similar to that with your vehicle (or find an installer who will). As Matt said, always listen to a set before buying, in my opinion, anyone serious about audio should drive as much as needed to audition their possibilities before making the final decision. I recommend taking the trip and giving them a shot. |
