Right now I have Infinity 6"x8" speakers in my door but I was wondering if 6.5" speakers would sound clearer. Also I'm running them off of a JL Audio 300/4 amp (75 Watts RMS per channel) Any recommendations other than components? Also if you are going to recommend components, I have no place to put the tweeter other than right beside the speaker in the 6"x8" hole. What do you experts think? |

Regarding the components, the side-by-side mount is pretty good for most cars because it simplifies phase/timing. You won't get a high stage, but you won't get out-of-phase sounds, either. Infinity Kappa Perfects would be great, but underpowered. If you can wait for the shipment, Elemental Designs is having a preorder sale of 40% off their upcoming stuff. http://www.edesignaudio.com/ -Matt |

I used to have the Infinity 5x7/6x8 Kappas in my car, and I switched them out for the Perfect 6.1 component set. The 6x8's really lack on the mid bass and don't really replicate a nice full range of sound. They hit the higher frequencies nicely, but they're not so impressive in the lows-mids. The Perfects made a world of difference in soundquality in my mazda. They're a great price too... I picked a set of Perfect 6.1's up on ebay for 210 shipped(new) |
