I would like to know your experience watching HD broadcasts and non-HD signals. Any of you use Dish Network with the samsung? What about a playstation 2? I'm sort of at a crossroads as if to go with the DLP 50inch, or to stick with a smaller CRT/widescreen HDTV around the 30-34" range from samsung. There are just so many intangibles that it makes it difficult to make a decision on buying a tv, and it really shouldn't be so confusing.

I own an HLP5063W and have HD service with Cox cable. HD broadcasts are fantastic from ESPN-HD, iNHD, and Discovery HD. The broadcasts, from ABC, NBC, CBS and PBS are fine but need some improvement. Non-HD picture quality depends on what you're watching. The movie channels look good but everything else ranges from fair to poor. This is pretty much common on all hi-def TVs. They really don't focus their design on standard def picture quality.

I have the HLP5663W... and I'm returning it! Watching fast moving scenes could give you a headache... there's plenty of motion pixel blocks the blurr the scene that occur when I watch DVD or HBO HD. even on ESPN-HD. Take a series look at the JVC D-ILA sets..best of both worlds..DLP and LCD. vibrant colors, deep blacks, very minimal to no motion pixel blurrs. It's avalable in both 52 and 61". Good luck in choosing a new TV.
