I drive a Mustang coupe with the Mach 460. My top front driver's side speaker is making a ticking or whining noise, but only when the engine is running. There is also an electrical hum coming from that general area.
I had my car worked on a little while ago when someone hit me, ended up getting a new door on that side. After I got it back I started having problems with that speaker cutting in and out and making this noise.
I took the door panel off to make sure all the wires were in right and they were. The problem all seemed to have gone away for a while until I hit a good sized bump in the road and it started acting up again.
Any idea on why this speaker is acting up or how to fix it? It still works, it's just making a ticking noise and electrical hum when the engine is on.
The wire is frayed or loose on its connectors and probably grounding out.
Depending on how long ago the repairs were, you can probably make them replace the speaker wire going from the door to the harness. Otherwise, you can inspect the wire yourself (all the way along the path) and replace as needed.
