I am deciding between apair of Mb Quart RCE 268 speakers or a pair of Boston SL80's. Which speakers would be the best? They both have the same RMS wattage so I was looking to get an amp that put out about 75x2 watts. But I don't think that my tweeters are working so I was wondering if someone could also recommend maybe an amp that puts out 75x4 and also pair of very good tweeters that I could maybe run off of that amp with my speakers?

I prefer the Bostons because it's a good component set pre-mounted in a 5x7/6x8 plate. And Boston uses very bright tweeters, so I wouldn't recommend supplementing those until you've had 'em installed for a while.

I like Hifonics & Kenwood Excelon amps (although many disagree with the latter). On a higher-tier budget, check out Jonathan's Zapcos :-), USAmps, MMats.

that call is totally up to your own ears.
everyone has their preferences.
the quarts, the bostons, dynaudio system 240GT, rainbow, focal utopias, CDT classics, lots of choices for great separates.

Ok say I get the Quarts shouldn't I still get a good pair of tweeters to replace the factory tweeters on my dash that I don't even think are working? If so can you recommend a good pair of tweeters and a good 75x4 watt amp that I could run my speakers and my tweeters off of?

Regardless of which ones you get, I wouldn't recommend that you get tweeters (even super) until you've had the system in for at least a month.

A good pair of tweeters is going to run over $75 (not to mention the extra amp channels), which I think would be better spent getting nicer mids.

You could even plate-mount Kappa Perfect 5.1s, Focal 130V2s, or CDT CL51s, which would cost about the same thing as the other setup, then get a Hifonics ZX4000 to drive 'em.

Oh, and I meant to say that those are all component sets so you can decide to relocate the tweeter if you prefer it up-top.
