Tuesday, January 11, 2011 - 04:30 GMT Ottmar Liebert - Nouveau Flamenco amazing wooden resonance on Ottmar's guitar on this recording. Has lots of space and air. FWIW: Many of his recordings were mastered using Gallo speakers. I am not sure if they still are. I remember seeing a photo of them inside one of the CD jackets (think it was The Hours Between Night + Day).

Tuesday, January 11, 2011 - 14:58 GMT E-Rotic "Missing You" E-Rotic is one of those guilty pleasures Totally pointless CD that is 120 bpm most of the way through (eurodance group), but has tons of shading and LOADS of production. I have really never "listened" to it before... and I begrudgingly have to admit it. It is kind of fun :-)

Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 03:09 GMT Thanks for the heads up. It's a work night and I don't get home until 6:00 pm PST. I get up at 3:30 and head to work at 6:00 am...After work I zone and watch Law and Order or HGTV then hit the hay at 8:00 pm (lights out at 9:00). I occasionally listen to Fire FM between 7:00 and 8:00 pm. What's Jitterbug Waltz...doesn't sound very appetizing...lol!

Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 15:48 GMT Oh, I didn't realize you worked so late Art. The Jitterbug Waltz Hour is a jazz show on Trinity University's KRTU. It's hosted by gentleman named Bradly Kaiser. He's well versed in jazz and usually plays records. I only recall him playing a cd once. It was Michael Brecker's "Pilgrimmage". Otherwise, old recordings that only ever made it to vinyl. I could be wrong, but you strike me as the type who would really enjoy the show. Not just the music, but Bradly's demeanor and discussion of the records he plays etc. He sometimes has local musicians in the studio that he talks to about the records. It's very pleasant. If your wife likes jazz, she'd probably enjoy it too. I wish my wife liked jazz. The station broadcasts on 91.7 FM which I listen to when I venture into San Antonio and has live streaming audio on the internet. The site krtu.org also has a week long archive so you could listen to it sometime over the weekend.

Wednesday, January 12, 2011 - 20:07 GMT Wife loves Jazz. We have probably the best Jazz FM station in the country at KMHD in Portland. Unfortunately we can't get it in the house unless we stream it and then the sound quality sucks. Generally I have the ugly hrs only Monday through Thursday as I have Fri-Sun off. My long day is Thursday when I get up at 3:30 and then go to be late because it's my Friday. This week we have tomorrow off due as it's our Anniversary, then Monday off due to MLK day.

Thursday, January 13, 2011 - 03:17 GMT that's a nice schedule Art. I wish I could work 10 hrs a day, 4 days a week. I know computer audio generally sucks. The only remedy is if your pc has a digital coax out that you can run to a good DAC (24 bits or better) or running usb to a DAC. Then run the audio outs to your system. I plan to do this after I move. For the time being, I use the speakers built into the monitor with my old subwoofer. The sub makes it sound decent at least. Don't let the name "Jitterbug Waltz" fool you. It really is a great show. I really believe you and your wife would enjoy it. Have an EXTREMELY happy anniversary!

Tuesday, January 18, 2011 - 03:17 GMT Wanna hear something crazy Art? Check out Pat Boone's cd, "In A Metal Mood" ('96) He covers 12 songs, mostly metal, some borderline metal in big band jazz. The Dio tune, "Holy Diver", came out the best IMO. His version of Ozzy's "Crazy Train" was used as the theme song for "The Osbournes. I didn't care for the show, but his cover made me want to hear the rest of the disc.
