Bronze Member Username: SouleraserPost Number: 66 Registered: Feb-10 | I had a JL 1000/1 powering my sub but I sold it. I'm looking for an amp that can give me at least 750wrms @ 3ohms and that fits my budget. I don't want to spend more than $275. Do you guys have any suggestions? Thanks for your help. |
Silver Member Username: CenusPost Number: 227 Registered: Aug-08 | kicker zx1500.1 or maybe a zx1000.1 but it would prlly be slightly under that at 3ohms. |

Silver Member Username: CenusPost Number: 230 Registered: Aug-08 | good call marc, id get that aq over the amps i suggested. more power and cheaper. |
Platinum Member Username: Nd4spd18Philadelphia, PA Post Number: 11590 Registered: Jul-06 | that hifonics would be lucky to do a real 750w at 2 ohms nevermind 3 |
Gold Member Username: Loc_outSoCal Post Number: 3266 Registered: Feb-05 | Mighrt be a little over your budget but this is the amp I would run. You could get the x600.1 for much less http://compare.ebay.com/like/300496631373 |
Bronze Member Username: SouleraserPost Number: 67 Registered: Feb-10 | That Phoenix Gold 1200 looks like a great amp. Do you guys know if they got the power rating @ 12.4 or 14.4 volts? I doubt my car puts out 14.4 volts constantly. |
Bronze Member Username: SouleraserPost Number: 68 Registered: Feb-10 | I can get an Alpine PDX 1000.1 for $180-200. It puts out 1000wrms @ 2 & 4 ohms @ 14.4 volts. How many watts do you guys think it'll give my sub if the voltage drops to around 12 volts? I'll be happy with around 700-750 watts. |
Silver Member Username: CwruckPost Number: 484 Registered: Feb-10 | if you can get that alpine go for it!! thats a great little amp, im sure its around 800 watts if voltage drops that low, but you shouldn't drop below 13 volts |

Gold Member Username: DelsolePost Number: 1758 Registered: Feb-05 | ^^^ I'm sorry but i had you laugh. hahahahaah |
Gold Member Username: DelsolePost Number: 1759 Registered: Feb-05 | You could always keep an eye out for a jl amp on craigslist. I see the 1000/1 go for for 300 bucks time to time and a 500/1 all day long in the 200 price range. I know you want 750 watts but i have heard a 12w7 on a 500/1 and it sounded great. The amp had no issues pushing it either. |
Platinum Member Username: Nd4spd18Philadelphia, PA Post Number: 11592 Registered: Jul-06 | ok, you asked for it... Here are the results of a CA&E mag bench test of an XX-Goliath which claims 5000w @ 1 ohm: TEST RESULTS OUTPUT POWER @ 1%THD, 100Hz, 14.4 Volts Mono @ 4 ohms 1,708 watts Mono @ 2 ohms 3,062 watts Mono @ 1 ohm 4,696 watts OUTPUT POWER @ 1%THD, 100Hz, 12.5 VOLTS Mono @ 4 ohms 1,237 watts Mono @ 2 ohms 2,223 watts Mono @ 1 ohm 3,512 watts Distortion at rated power, 100Hz, 14.4 volts 0.1% @ any impedance "When I began to measure power levels, I found the power at 1.0% THD+N was a little lower than quoted in the specifications. After double checking all my measurements, I realized that Hifonics does not qualify their power figures with a distortion limit. By letting the amp run a little into clipping, I could get the claimed power from it, but at distortion levels around 2% to 5%." http://www.caraudiomag.com/testreports/ 0608_cae_hifonics_xx_goliath_amplifier/power_charts.html still think hifonics amps are not overrated? being the forum rtard, of course you do. |
Platinum Member Username: Nd4spd18Philadelphia, PA Post Number: 11595 Registered: Jul-06 | 4696 genius. The point is if hifonics's "good" amps are that much overrated their economy ones are no doubt more so. But I don't expect you to follow such advanced logic |

Bronze Member Username: SouleraserPost Number: 69 Registered: Feb-10 | @ Erick I needed the money to pay some of my bills. Otherwise I would have kept it. |
Gold Member Username: Drant19DUB-C, TX Post Number: 2185 Registered: Aug-07 | that sucks Joe, i love my 1000/1 lol, i would take the recommendation of lookin on craigslist for another 1000/1. Or the AQ would be a quality choice and give you headroom if you were to ever switch up the substage. G.I. Rob, take your b1tchfest somewhere else and dont flood the thread with your crying over M.S. Opinion/theory/facts/whatever. Everyone has an opinion, geeze dude get a life. Home is where you make it... What? You llike to see h0m0z naked? |

Bronze Member Username: JaymoungMichigan Post Number: 77 Registered: Dec-09 | (Hifonics BXI 2010D)I had mine bench tested at 2 different voltages. #1 14.4 volts: 661 @ 4 ohms, 1401 @ 2 ohms, and 2025 @ 1 ohm. The next test was done @ 13.8 volts: 579 @ 4 ohms, 1278 @ 2 ohms, and 1878 @ 1 ohm. So at the 14.4 which is where they rate it, it was a little underrated. At the 13.8 volts it did well. The 122 watts under the rated 2000 you can't tell the difference. |
Silver Member Username: MakinblakMonroe/Monticello, La/Ar Post Number: 326 Registered: Oct-10 | yea but if you drawing 2000 watts, you will need a kickass electical system to manage 14.4 v. Some brands rate theirs at lower volts right? or Wrong? And G.I.rob:::::: You are more dramatic than my bi-polar mother on her period with a toothache. As much as I think MS sucks at life, He aint worth getting me riled up. Chilllax homy |
Gold Member Username: Gcs8Atlanta, Ga Post Number: 1788 Registered: Sep-09 | 2k is not that hard to power, 1-2 nice battery's and a good alt and big 3 and good grounds. pretty much the basics +1 battery. preferably have the alt set to 15v - 15.1v cold should fall to ~14.5v - 14.8v hot, my poor alt sits at ~13.3v hot and i can push ~1600 watts off my stock electrical if i keep an eye on it. aka know your system. also know that missing out on 100 - 200 out of 2000 you wont notice it, unless you are competing in SPL at witch point take the time to beef up your electrical system and do it right. as for the second part of your question, yes some amps like sundown amps rate alot of there amps at 12.8V and theres amps like the JL /series witch have a power supply that gives the same power to the amp from 12.8v - 15v iirc and giving it more voltage may only net you ~20 - 50 watts. also some amps will not take more then ~15.1v where there are other amps that will take up to 18.5-19.1v and put out much more power then rated. if i am wrong about any of that some one step up and say so and tell me why i am wrong. |
