A guy approached me and says he has a american bass hc502. its supposed to be a really hardcore cheater amp. i know zip about these amps that y im coming to you all. its supposedly .5 ohm stable as well. i just wanna know is it worth my time? Thanks
it's not rated half-ohm stable. it's rated for a minimum impedance of 1 ohm stereo, or two ohms bridged mono. 2 ohm mono it is rated to produce 400 watts. Even an underrated amplifier like the old Orion HCCA series would produce about 20% over rated power. You're not getting thousands of watts from any amp rated to produce 400 watts at most. I stated this above.
Besides, it's a class AB amp. It's inefficient. If you want an amp for subs, look at a class D amp from a company like Sundown.
