Sunday, October 24, 2010 - 20:27 GMT I also bought a few Stones albums lately, a few on SACD and of course the re-released Exile. I have something like 8 to 10 Stones albums. I find a lot of their songs to be mediocre, but they are usually good for a few gems each album. Great band. Bought four vinyl LPs off Amazon. The Crue's Girls, Girls, Girls and Dr. Feelgood; Metallica's Garage Inc.; and Neil Young's After the Goldrush. About $20 each.

Sunday, October 24, 2010 - 20:59 GMT Surprisingly the vinyl version is cheaper than the CD version. $18 vs. $25. I think it's the first time I've seen that. And you get 3 LPs too. I'm not a Soundgarden fan, but I almost want to buy this because it looks so awesome:

Sunday, November 07, 2010 - 15:43 GMT Good morning, Art. I hope you're having a good weekend. I read through this thread and was impressed with your collection! I started late collecting SACD's and there's very little left out there that's worth buying. Thankfully, they reissued 2 Nat King Cole 3-channel SACD's, The Very Thought Of You and Love Is The Thing which I got last week. Very nice. Next week, I'm expecting 3 more SACD's: Art Pepper + Eleven, LAGQ Brazil and Paavo Jarvi's Dvorak Symphony No. 9 . Hope you have a good week ahead.

Monday, November 08, 2010 - 13:44 GMT Art, I'm very surprised that you like Hiromi. I would think that she is a little smooth jazz for your taste. Do you like Keiko Matsui? "The Piano" is my favorite. Second up, "Cherry Blossom"

Monday, November 08, 2010 - 17:37 GMT Hiromi is, to me, not smooth jazz at all. She's far too adventurous for that. Try "Spiral" or her work with Chick Corea...or the recent work with Stanley Clarke and Lenny White. I can listen to an occasional smooth jazz piece as long as there is a little something more on offer than catchy "hooks and grooves".

Tuesday, November 09, 2010 - 12:57 GMT You may like "Club De Sol" by David Chesky. That one is difficult for me to place. Has a very defined Caribbean feel to it, and is fun to listen to. I will have to check her out. I have always assumed she was standard fare smooth jazz, then you posted it. I figured it had to be more. Keiko Matsui's "The Piano" is mostly solo piano (2-3 pieces w/ backing thrown in for good measure)

I can't stand the teenybopper pop that my coworkers like. Some of them have good taste in music, but most of themare strictly top 40. No dice! I don't complain I also realize that it is for overall enjoyment. So I play nice: -)
