Can you help me.. I have just got a new car and want to replace the standard front speakers there 100mm - 4inch. i have some jl audio tr525-cxi from my old car but they are 130mm - 5.25inch. i have tried making spacers and alsorts of other things to make them fit but i have no room. So i'm going to have to buy some 100mm ones and save all this fu%*in about..... So what do i get? I have £70.00 ish to spend do i go with jl audio again. Thanks........
First, replacing the speakers in an otherwise stock car stereo system won't really make much of a difference, no matter how expensive or good the speakers may be. Next, you really won't get anything from a 4" speaker. Furthermore, consider going to a set of separates, and cut holes in the door panels, or use fiberglass kick panel pods to hold the speakers, allowing you much more in the way of options for mounting and speaker size. Lastly, strongly consider using an amplifier for the new front speakers to get a much better front stage.
