my '04 nissan frontier xe only has speakers in the doors and tweaters above the dash. i want to install some 6x9's behind the seats ,no amp or anything fancy. my only delima is that i'm not sure how the speaker wire connects to the stereo. it has a sony xplode after market stereo and there are 2 or 3 harnesses behind it. i'm not sure where to begin.

You want to install MORE speakers? Sorry, you can't do that with just the internal amp in a head unit. You'd have to wire the speakers in series, and then you would lose a lot of power going to the rears. This would also equal a ton of distortion since you'd have to have it cranked up a ton to get enough volume. And really, lets face it, it's going to sound like crap. You'd be better off just replacing the speakers in the doors with whatever size is already there. OR putting in the 6x9's and taking out the stock speakers in the rear doors. OR getting an aftermarket amp to power the 6x9's, OR better yet a subwoofer.

sure you can. the mids and tweeters in front will be a component set, which use a crossover, which will use 2 of the 4 available channels.
the 6x9s will connect to the rear pair of speaker channels. To find which wires are for those speakers, you'll need to find a manual online for that radio.

Most times, the wires are white and green, or grey and green. white or grey is Right channel, green is left channel. one wires will be in pairs, with one having a black trace line. The trace wire is your negative. The solid color is positive
