When I was putting my subs back into the trunk all of a sudden I heard this popping and now I am getting a LOT of noise all of a sudden through my speakers, even when my HU is turned to 0. I do not know why! Useful information: 1) I can plug my iPod directly into my amps (with separate RCAs) and it sounds good, no noise, so it isn't my amps 2) My HU has two sets preouts (front & rear) and I use the front set for all four cabin speakers and the rear set for subwoofers. Now usually if I set the fader on my HU all the way to the rear, my cabin speakers are silent and all I will hear is bass... but now the cabin speakers will play the music (behind the noise) even though my fader is set all the way to the rear and they should not be getting signal. I am wondering if this is my HU or maybe my RCAs? And why would this happen all of the sudden... everything was working fine before today! Please help! |

Try this for a fix: http://bcae1.com/images/rca/temporaryrcashieldrepair.html Basically, you need to ground the RCA jacks to the head unit. |

I actually saw that other thread of a guy having similar issues and there was a ghetto picture in there with some wires wrapped around the RCA jacks and screwed into the HU casing. So last night I tore out my dash to get to my HU (for like the fourth time in a month) and did that. I also grounded my HU to a bolt I found on the vehicle chassis instead of the factory ground. Now it sounds good again! I do not know which one of the two was causing the problem, and to be honest I don't care; I'm just happy there is no external noise in my system! |

If I did in fact blow the pico fuse (though I don't know how this would have happened), and I didn't fuse my wires which are connecting the RCA shields to the HU casing, am I asking for trouble? I did it kind of like this picture provided in the other thread... https://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/forum/car-audio/644177.html |

I'd rather be safe than sorry with the fuses and wire to the RCA's, honestly. Though the chances of it causing an electrical fire are slim, it would be pretty awful if it happened. It's at your discretion, of course. |
