New member Username: OnequestionPost Number: 1 Registered: Aug-10 | New here (obviously), so dont bash me if im posting this in the wrong forum. Just a question about setting up surround sound on my new tv. My tv says it is 8.1 compatible and has a digital optical out. Does this mean i do not need to get a receiver for surround sound on this television? Is it possible to just buy the speakers and woofer and connect directly to the tv? The blu-ray player i bought also says its 7.1 compatible. Does that mean I can use it as a receiver if im not able to use the tv? Any help/advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

You still need an amp or receiver in order to amplify and send the proper sound to the correct speakers. |
