============================================= The radio will have to be removed from the car dashboard .
Then please quote the MAKE + MODEL of your radio plus ALL the LETTERS and NUMBERS on any LABELS , BARCODES or STAMPED IN THE METAL CASING.
Here is a video showing how to remove a standard radio from the dashboard. A pair of extractors are required (available from Ebay etc ) but these can be made from 2 pieces of bent, wire coat-hanger or 4 small drills(using the blunt end) or 4 small Allen Keys or 4 small screwdrivers or 4 nails or even 4 darts.
An assistant is useful to pull the radio out whilst you are releasing the 4 securing clips
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urC-4NbXvDQ
note: on some radios , these 4 holes are protected by 4 small screws. These can be unscrewed using the appropriate size of Allen key. ====================================================
Yes, you are right, for Laguna I it is relatively simple but I have Laguna II, phase II and the audio system is carminat DVD + cabase Auditorium. The radio unit is hidden somwhere in front of passanger in the dashboard, on the front panel there are only the buttons and the display- in brief. I have found the way how to do it here:
Posted on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 - 09:17 am: hi reg rooster looks like your the Man im too after a code for my laguna 1999 Model no:22dc461/62e Prod No:FD0999062126680 =========================================== There should be a 14 character Serial Number beginning with RG or RN or PH or similar (often found stamped in the metal casing ) and maybe a Security Number in the format of TOA123 or TA123 or just A123 at the end of a barcode so please quote EVERYTHING you can find
RENAULT Clarion Radio =============================================== ==================================================
Have you tried the numbers printed on the second label as they may be your codes
7450 and 6998
If not, then as the code given by the Main Renault Dealer does not work then you will have to use a Radio Decoding Service who will connect a laptop to read the working code(s) inside your radio`s memory chip (EEPROM)
_martin_ have you tryed that radio : 7450 and cd changer 6998 and whats the number at the bottom of that sticker please. only clarion with a barcode starting with C7 Can be done by serial.
I have tried both codes - they do not work. The number at the bottom of the sticker is my VIN (already posted). I will use any decoding service. Funny is that I don't know if the code for radio is needed. The car says on the display "INSERT THE CODE" but there can be a GPS code, chnager code or a tuner code (if these codes are not the same...)
Anyway, many thanks for your help. I will then write how I did it to help the others.
