Silver Member Username: Sleste8Shelbyville, MI United States Post Number: 237 Registered: Mar-10 | generally how much sound deadener will i need to cover the front doors in my jeep cherokee sport 4 door? and i really wana go with second skin, but i don't quite no what to use. damplifier or damplifier pro? and with either one, how many layers should i use. i just wana do it right the first time and be done with it.. and im still curious about those speaker tweakers. anyone use these yet? and if so, are they really worth the money? sry for posting this in subwoofers but every wares else seems kinda dead.. thanks for any and all input guys. |

Gold Member Username: DelsolePost Number: 1636 Registered: Feb-05 | I was in the same boat as you a while ago. I dont know if what i'm saying is what you should do but its did work well for me. First off i used fat mat i got off ebay pretty much because it was cheap. I covered every part of the door to the point where it couldn't be seen with the panel on and so the panel would go on without issues. I even did as much as i could inside of the door its self as well. I also covered the back of the panel the best i could. If i remember correctly i used in between 15-20 sq feet per door. I have seen some people seal off the whole door with plexi glass in all the opening's so the speaker its self was basically sealed. Basically it is what you make of it. |

Gold Member Username: JakeyplaysbassSt. Louis, MO / ASU Post Number: 3808 Registered: Jul-05 | What I usually do to determine how much deadener to buy is cut out a 6x6" cardboard cutout and measure how many you can get on the door. After you get an idea of how many of the cutouts will fit divide by 4 and then multiply how many layers you want. So if you think 28-30 cutouts will fit and you want to do 2 layers... 30/4 = 7.5 x 2 = 15 x 2 = 30 So you would be looking at around 30sqft do do 2 layers on each of the front doors. |

Gold Member Username: TejcurrentPost Number: 2286 Registered: Apr-07 | The SPL tiles are awesome. I normally do 2 layers per skin, inner and outer. That means four layers per door, though I used one layer of mat and 3-4 layers of Spectrum on my truck now. Spectrum is easy to use and great for hard to reach areas, but if time is an issue the mat goes on faster in easy to reach areas. I usually just measure my plastic panels, since I don't want deadener past that anyway. It takes just a few minutes. My front doors are 6 feet each, and 4.5 for the rear. This means 21 feet for one coat. 4 coats (2 per skin) means 80 sq feet. I didn't see spl tiles on their website, so say one shop pack of Damplifier Pro. A cheaper option that would still work well (what I did this last time) would be a bulk pack with a gallon of spectrum. Even after the cost of a gun it would be 60 dollars cheaper at about $230. |

Also they aren't adhesive backed, you have to buy your own. I'm really interested in the sound difference they make with the windows up though. |
