Anyone know where I can find some? I know they can be found on many ford cars that have 6x9 openings and 5x7 speakers. My old Crown Victoria had them, but I never would have thought I needed them. Does Best Buy carry them? I don't feel like going to a scrap yard for some speaker plates. Ebay has some, but they need to be cut and I don't have the equipment to do so (and if I did, I wouldn't even be buying the set from ebay as I could make my own).

I'm installing a system into a friend's car and he has some infinity kappa 5x7's that need a 6x9 plate for the front doors.

Thanks for any insight.

Though it's difficult to tell from the description, I imagine they could be reversed and would still work. The only thing I would have to worry about is the speakers sticking out too far, but I believe the current factory speakers are mounted on a plate that keeps them extended away from the door, so those might just be what I want! Thanks for the link.

IMO not worth the trouble for infinity 5x7s.. now some good (and round lol) components would be worth fabricating in there

These Infinity Kappas sound surprisingly good. In fact, I'd dare say they are better than a good deal of 'round' speakers. But really, since my friend is on a budget, we just have to work with what he has. Thanks for the suggestion.

Well i guess everybody has their own preference... but every single infinity i've ever heard had terrible harsh highs.

Point well-taken, actually! I guess this is where subjective listening preference comes in since I actually love the metallic highs from the kappas. The cymbals sound great and the guitar strings are practically chilling in how precise and metallic they sound. Though when the recording isn't very good, then ooh yeah, they are harsh. Softer tweeters are far more forgiving, but when you get a good recording on the metal tweets, it's bliss.

What fronts are you running in your car, M.S.?

What do I prefer out of metallic and soft tweets?

I personally like metallic better since nearly all of my songs are high quality (320kb/s .mp3 format on my iPod). I don't listen to AM/FM. The only place where sometimes it's a bit harsh is satellite radio, but it's worth it to me in the end.
