There are 8 places to hook up outputs on my sub (the sub itself not the enclosure/amp) There are 8 connectors on the underside of the sub 4 on either side. I think they were connected to each other at one point?

you only need to hook up 2 of the four on each side and you link one set to the other, thats a dual voice coil sub. the terminals are just made like that for ease of use.

thats right if you are going to use a 1 ohm load, this is if its a dual 2 ohm sub if its a dual 4 ohm thats a 2 ohm load.

ohm refers to the resistance the sub presents to the amp witch determents the amount of power the amp will see. if you don't get an amp thats 1 ohm stable it will keep cutting off on you if that id a dual 4 ohm sub then you only need an amp thats 2 ohms stable. and you wire the sub to match your application.

I look up the model it says, two 4-ohm voice coils, so as I've got it hooked up now its a 2 ohm load correct? so, with 2 of the subs I would need an amp that could be stable at 4 ohms, correct?

the subs are ts-w254dvc
I'd like to spend under 100 on the amp.

ok so you need ~500 watts total...... the RMS is 250 watts BTW.

this is the only thing i found in your price range that sounds like its worth a dam. http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_23623_Rockford_Fosgate_R250-1.aspx

maybe http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_19264_Kenwood_KAC-8104D.aspx

your budget is two small.

RMS is the power the sub can handle normally, going over RMS on cheep subs is a great way to kill them then wonder why they died.

you mean the remote wire not the remote start, if its an after market head unit it should be the blue wire.
